Welcome to the Town of Southampton! Home to a little over 55,000 residents, Southampton is one of ten towns located in Suffolk County, New York, and is partially on the South Fork of Long Island. Not to be confused with the village of Southampton, the town of Southampton is bounded by the towns of Brookhaven on the west, East Hampton to the east, and Riverhead to the north. The Great and Little Peconic Bays also border Southampton on the north, and in the southern region are Shinnecock Bay, Mecox Bay Moriches Bay, the barrier beach island, and the great Atlantic Ocean.

Southampton’s resort area is located near the Shinnecock Canal which is a popular area for visitors as it features a connecting waterway for boats and other watercraft travelling from the Great Peconic Bay to the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, the Shinnecock Canal extends from the Atlantic Beach Inlet to Block Island Sound.
